Awakening the Love Within

By Somni Raman

We live in a world with endless comforts, conveniences and varied source entertainment at our fingertips, yet so many hearts feel disconnected and lonely. Beneath this surface of ease, many hearts feel restless, empty, and unfulfilled. Despite being constantly connected through our phones, true attention, presence, and meaningful connection are rare.

Why is it so hard to find lasting fulfillment, love, and support from others? At its core, the struggle comes from our disconnection with ourselves. When we are alienated from our true self, we search outward for love and assurance. Fulfillment is not found by demanding love from others but by reconnecting with our inner higher being. As we quiet the restless mind and go deeper into stillness, we discover peace and an inner reservoir. of love. From this connection, all the worldly distractions lose their grip, and the heart begins to feel whole again.

Only when we awaken this love within can we truly share it with others. Without this inner discovery, the emptiness will always persist. When we don’t know who we truly are, we look outside for validation. We expect others to meet our every need: “Fill me. Complete me. Make me feel whole.” This longing often pushes people away and deepens the cycle of emptiness. The more we depend on others for love, the more alienated we become from our own soul.

The way out of this vicious circle is not more distraction, but deeper connection with our higher self, reflecting on every aspect of our life. Meditation is a very powerful tool. As per my Guru Paramhansa Yogananda, the sacred HONG SAU technique has the power to bring you peace! In this technique we concentrate on our breath, all the noise in our head disappears and we begin to peel away layers of restlessness. Gradually, in the silence of our soul, peace and calmness arises, and as we go deeper, over a period of time we are able to touch a wellspring of Divine love. Meditation reconnects us with our true self. In that space of stillness, loneliness begins to dissolve. Instead of chasing love, we radiate it. Instead of seeking validation, we rest in the security of our soul. Once we tune in to states of higher conscious, real relationships blossom and thrive, free from need and dependency.

This is not a secret anymore : only when we find love within can we share it unconditionally. Without the taste of inner Divine love, no amount of external affection or validation will ever be enough or permanent.

We are blessed to be part of Ananda Sangha and thankful to our Gurus for their teachings and practices that are so practical and almost a must for this new age. Meditation offers a path back to God. GOD is everything our souls ever craved: perfect bliss, immortality, complete consciousness – Satchidananda, ever existing, ever conscious, ever new bliss!

Here is beautiful quote by Paramhansa Yogananda,

“The love of God cannot be described. But it can be felt as the heart is purified and made constant. As the mind and the feeling are directed inward, you begin to feel His joy. The pleasures of the senses do not last; but the joy of God is everlasting. It is incomparable!”
